I'm not sure any new packs are being made for it. There is still TechnicPack but its kind of meh. I've been using it for so long and I always have Java installed, so I'm completely sure any more. I believe it also requires you to install Java. This is why I mentioned installing Java for MultiMC.ĪTLauncher is another good one for its modpacks. The official launcher installs its own version of Java and auto selects it based on the game version. These also both require Overwolf, the overall nightmare that it is. CurseForge uses the official launcher, lots of mod packs and great for creating your own because you get the dependencies the mods need if any. FTB installs its own Java so you don't have to worry about that and it can get CurseForge modpacks. Oh you can blame the hassle, which didn't use to exist, on Overwolf.ĬurseForge and Feed The Beast both have launcher and good for getting mod packs. Seems like a hassle but once you've experienced the smoothness of MMC and its much better logging system you'll understand why its better than the others below. My pro tip for this is to use CurseForge to download the mods then copy or move the mods from that instance to the mods folder created by MMC. You can build a pack but you have download the mods yourself. However if install a pack from FTB you can easily import it from there. It can get some mod packs directly but not from FTB or CurseForge. You can set one version of Java to use globally but can set another version for each instance. You do need to make sure you have Java 17.0.3 for MC 1.17-1.19 and Java 8 for MC 1.16 and older.
